Ongoing project: “Industrial Robot for Sanding Wooden Parts”

UAB “Techvitas”, in cooperation with the Public Institution “Innovation Agency” (administering authority) and the Panevėžio kolegija/State Higher ducation Institution (partner), has recently signed an agreement and is launching the project INDUSTRIAL ROBOT FOR SANDING WOODEN PARTS (Project No. 002–019–K–0126). The project is co-funded by the European Union.
Project duration:
July 2, 2024 – July 2, 2026
Project value:
EUR 1,306,438
EU funding:
EUR 824,983
Project objective. Through R&D activities, to develop a robotic automated wood sanding system aimed at increasing manufacturing productivity, accelerating production processes, saving costs and materials, and reducing the number of errors and defects.
Problems addressed by the project. The product under development will address challenges currently identified in the market related to sanding irregular parts of varying roughness made of metal, plastic, wood, and other materials, by integrating various robotics solutions. This will provide the market with a solution that will significantly increase manufacturing productivity by speeding up production processes, reducing production-related costs and material use, and lowering error and defect rates in production.
Target group of the project. The primary purpose of the robotic arm being developed will be to sand wooden product parts; therefore, the target market for the product will be the wood sanding machinery market. The product will be in high demand, as it will help automate a large share of processes that are currently performed by employees. Automated wood sanding machines will process wood materials faster and more efficiently than manual methods, resulting in higher productivity and cost savings.
