Students Explore the Future of Innovation

2026-09-17

Students at Panevėžio kolegija/State Higher Education Institution recently had an exciting opportunity to deepen their understanding of innovation and explore how new ideas, technologies and business models are shaping the future.

Panevėžio kolegija/State Higher Education Institution welcomed Prof. Dr Bjorn Jacobsen from Stralsund University of Applied Sciences, Germany, an experienced expert in innovation management with many years of professional and academic experience in the Baltic Sea region. During his visit, Prof. Jacobsen delivered a series of lectures on innovation management for students. The visit gave students the chance to strengthen their innovation management skills — competencies that are becoming increasingly important for today’s managers and business leaders.

Students from the International Business and Logistics study programmes explored the processes behind developing and implementing innovations. They analysed real-world examples of product, process and business model innovation, discussed emerging innovation trends, and learned how to identify and monitor early signals of change.

The lectures offered much more than theoretical knowledge. They provided students with valuable international perspectives and practical insights into the role of innovation in today’s businesses and society. Discussions focused on international examples of innovation and how innovative solutions can be adapted and applied across different industries and sectors.

Prof. Jacobsen also met with representatives of the Faculty of Social Sciences. The meetings provided an opportunity to exchange ideas and discuss current global innovation trends, international best practices in innovation management, and the development of innovation laboratories. Prof. Jacobsen also shared his experience of establishing and developing an innovation laboratory at Stralsund University of Applied Sciences.

As part of the visit, Prof. Jacobsen visited the Applied Research and Innovation Centre at Panevėžys College,  Geld Baltic Ltd. and Roquette Amilina Ltd., where he learned more about the innovative solutions and technologies being developed by the companies in Panevėžys region.

The visit also featured an open lecture for the community of Panevėžio kolegija/State Higher Education Institution entitled “How Digital Is Our Food Becoming? A Glimpse into the Future.” The lecture explored the growing role of digitalisation in the food sector, the impact of emerging technologies, and possible directions for the future development of the industry.

This visit by the guest lecturer was funded by the Education Exchanges Support Foundation of Lithuania.
