Leisure time in Panevėžys
Panevėžys – a rapidly renewing, lively, compact city
Panevėžys is developing an environmentally friendly city infrastructure, promoting the principles of sustainable mobility. The length of bicycle paths in the city exceeds 100 kilometers. Both residents and visitors who enjoy quiet and active leisure time alike enjoy the renovated city parks, which are friendly to all residents and feature sports and children’s playgrounds, as well as the renovated spaces that have become symbols of the city.
During the warm season, city residents flock to the shores of Lake Ekranas. There are walking and cycling paths, swimming areas, picnic and recreation areas, sports and children’s playgrounds, and a water park. Those who want to enjoy the dynamic view on the water can go paddleboarding, water biking, or take a pleasure boat ride. During the cold season, the excitement continues under the roof of the city’s ice arena.
Panevėžys is also generous to culture lovers – it is home to the legendary J. Miltinis Drama Theater and the only puppet theater of its kind in Europe, which is loved by families. In recent years, the history of Panevėžys has been revived through bold industrial and artistic projects that have attracted the interest of not only residents but also visitors to the city.
