Social responsibility and sustainability
Global Compact: Since 2011, the College has been a member of the United Nations (UN) Global Compact and thus contributes to the goals of sustainable development and social responsibility. In its work, Panevėžio kolegija/State Higher Education Institution seeks to make the ten principles of this agreement and the 17 goals of global sustainable development an integral part of the organization’s culture and day-to-day work.
Sustainable Development Goals till 2030
Goal 1. End poverty in all its forms everywhere.
Goal 2. End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.
Goal 3. Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.
Goal 4. Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
Goal 5. Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
Goal 6. Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.
Goal 7 Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.
Goal 8. Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.
Goal 9. Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation.
Goal 10. Reduce inequality within and among countries.
Goal 11. Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.
Goal 12. Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.
Goal 13. Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.
Goal 14. Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development.
Goal 15. Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss.
Goal 16. Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels.
Goal 17. Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development.
The Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact
Human Rights
Principle 1: Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights; and
Principle 2: make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.
Labour
Principle 3: Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining;
Principle 4: the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour;
Principle 5: the effective abolition of child labour; and
Principle 6: the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.
Environment
Principle 7: Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges;
Principle 8: undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility; and
Principle 9: encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.
Anti-Corruption
Principle 10: Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.
Communication on Engagement (COE) and the self-assessment for the United Nations Global Compact
Panevėžio kolegija/State Higher Education Institution , when preparing the Global Compact CEO, follows the principles of the Global Compact initiated by the United Nations (UN) and the recommendations of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). Panevėžio kolegija/State Higher Education Institution feels a responsibility to society, to its city, to the state. We are indifferent to today’s issues and problems; we try to contribute in every way to the search for sustainable solutions. We understand that only by changing ourselves can we change our environment. This is achieved by working carefully and responsibly.

Environmental protection
In implementing its long-term strategy, Panevėžio kolegija/State Higher Education Institution’s management and the community as a whole place great emphasis on the development of innovative solutions and sustainable development in accordance with the principles of environmental protection, social responsibility and good corporate governance and undertakes to comply in full with the requirements of legal acts in the field of environmental protection and the provisions adopted in the Environmental Policy.
